FULL GAME REPORT

The Storm opened up the scoring at 3:02 of the first period. Isaac Ratcliffe’s shot from just in front of the blue line was deflected by Nick Suzuki in front of a screened Luke Richardson to put the home team up 1-0.

Just 54 seconds later, a Domenico Commisso shot took a deflection off of Rangers defenseman Cole Cameron and that put the Storm up 2-0.

Rickard Hugg received a 10-minute misconduct for some post-whistle interactions with Storm captain, Ratcliffe. 11-seconds later, at 7:35, Kyle Gentles took a holding penalty that put the Rangers down a man for the first time on the afternoon.

Kitchener’s penalty kill fended off Guelph’s man-advantage and kept the deficit to two.

The Storm extended their lead at 14:16 when Fedor Gordeev, on assists from Pavel Gogolev and Nate Schnarr, found the back of the net for his first goal of the playoffs to make it 3-0.

With the period winding down, Schnarr, from the end boards, passed in front to Liam Hawel who battled a Rangers defender for the puck and put it past Richardson to make it 4-0 and that’s how the period would end.

Guelph outshot Kitchener through 20 minutes, 14-5.

45-seconds into the second period, Hawel finished off a tic-tac-toe goal from Schnarr and Alexey Toropchenchko for his second of the afternoon to make it 5-0.

At 12:45 of the middle frame, Ratcliffe got his first goal of the postseason when he deflected a Schnarr point shot to give Guelph the 6-0 advantage.

The period would end with the Storm still leading in shots, 25-18.

Lucas Pfeil replaced Richardson in net to begin the third period.

The Storm made it 7-0 when Toropchenko batted a shot out of the air and past Pfeil at 12:11.

The game ended with the Storm outshooting the Rangers 34-22.
