Four Kitchener Rangers alumni to participate in 2017 IIHF World Championship


Four former Kitchener Rangers have been selected to participate in the 2017 IIHF World Championship taking place May 5 – 21, 2017 in Paris, France and Cologne, Germany.

A total of 16 teams will compete in the tournament, with Rangers’ grads representing four different countries; Jeff Skinner (Canada), Tobias Rieder (Germany), Gabriel Landeskog (Sweden) and Dominik Kubalik (Czech Republic). Rieder and Team Germany along with Landeskog and Team Sweden will skate in Group ‘A’, playing their round-robin games out of Lanxess Arena in Cologne, while Skinner and Team Canada along with Kubalik and Team Czech Republic will play in Group ‘B’ out of AccorHotels Arena in Paris.

The 2+ week tournament will see 64 games played, with Team Canada looking to skate to a three-peat after winning the tournament in back-to-back years in 2015 and 2016.
