O'Nabigon Sizzles In Win With 3 Goals

Kitchener, ON: It was a big night both on and off the ice for the Rangers tonight at The Aud.

On the ice the Rangers dumped the Sarnia Sting 6-2, while off the ice the much anticipated video scoreboard was unveiled much to the delight of the 5,566 fans in attendance.

In the first period the Rangers got on the board on a goal by Andre Benoit at the 19:16 mark of the period. Nathan O’Nabigon and Michael Richards assisted on the goal.

Nathan O’Nabigon scored his third in his last two games just :21 seconds later to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead. Richards and Marcus Smith picked up assists.

In the second period O’Nabigon scored his second of the game at 15:03 on the power play to make the lead 3-0.

The Sting finally solved Rangers goalie Scott Dickie at 18:29 to cut into the lead and make it a 3-1 game.

Moments later, Kitchener native Chad McCaffrey scored at 18:49 to build the lead back up to 4-1.

Twenty-five seconds later, McCaffrey scored his second of the game to make it a 5-1 game heading into the intermission.

In the third O’Nabigon finshed off his big night with his third of the game to make it a 6-1 bulge. It was also O’Nabigon’s fifth goal in his last two games.

Danny Fritsche scored at the 6:24 mark to make the final score 6-2.

The Rangers next home game is Friday, December 27th vs the Windsor Spitfires. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
