Rangers Beat Sting

Kitchener, ON: Playing on the road against a tough conference opponent the Rangers came away with a 3-2 win in front of a crowd of 4,166 at the Sarnia Sports & Entertainment Centre.

The teams played a scoreless first period with the Rangers holding a slim shooting advantage of 8-7.

In the second period the Sting got on the board first on a goal by Joey Tenute at 15:24 to take a 1-0 lead.

Matt Grennier scored his 3rd of the season at 19:22 of the period to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the intermission.

In the third Gregory Campbell scored his 16th of the season just 1:37 into the period to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead.

Michael Haley of the Sting tied the game at 2-2 at 7:48.

It looked as though the game would be heading into overtime until George Halkidis scored the game winner on the power play with just :51 seconds to play.

Scott Dickie earned the win stopping 22 of 24 shots faced to raise his record to 10-2-2 on the season.

The Rangers next game is Friday night vs Peterborough Petes. Gametime is 7:30 p.m.
