Rangers Get Past Petes

Kitchener, ON: Andre Benoit and Michael Richards continued their hot streaks with two points each tonight in a 3-2 win vs the Petes in front of a crowd of 5,135

In the first period the teams played to a scoreless draw with the Rangers holding a 13-4 shooting advantage after twenty minutes.

In the second Andre Benoit scored his 7th of the season on the power play at 9:32 to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. Evan McGrath and Petr Kanko picked assists on the goal.

With just :06 seconds remaining in the period Jordan Morrison slapped his 3rd on the season past a sprawling Scott Dickie to tie the game at 1-1.

In the third Michael Richards scored the eventual game winner with his 18th on the season at 12:53 to put the Rangers up 2-1.

With Peterborough on the power play, Andre Benoit poked the puck into the goal to make it a 3-1 lead at 15:59.

The Petes made it interesting when Lukas Krajicek scored his 8th on the year with :18 seconds left on the clock to pull the Petes to within one 3-2 but that was as close they would get.

Scott Dickie picked up his 11th win on the season stopping 29 of the 31 shots he faced.

With his two goals tonight Andre Benoit moved into a tie for second in the OHL scoring race for defencemen with 33 points in 31 games played.

The Rangers next home game is Friday, December 20th vs the Sarnia Sting. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
