Kitchener Rangers announce player commitment from Giovanni Vallati

The Kitchener Rangers announced today that defenceman Giovanni Vallati has committed to an Ontario Hockey League standard player agreement with the club. Vallati was the team’s 1st round pick (16th overall) in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection.

The 6’0, 186lb Ottawa, Ontario native was drafted from the Vaughan Kings of the GTHL in April’s draft. Vallati registered nine goals with 27 assists for 36 points and 56 penalty minutes in 64 games played in the 2015-16 regular season.

His smooth skating and offensive upside was something Rangers general manager Murray Hiebert said the club coveted when Vallati was still available the team with its 16th overall pick.

“We’re very pleased to be able to welcome Giovanni and his family officially into our Rangers family here this afternoon,” said Hiebert. “He is a player who is confident with the puck and makes good choices, and gives us another offensive option from the point. We are excited to see him in Rangers blue in the fall.”
