Kitchener Rangers General Manager Murray Hiebert announced today that the team has completed a trade with the Mississauga Steelheads.

In the trade, the Rangers acquire defenceman Thomas Welsh from the Steelheads, in exchange for Kitchener’s ninth round pick in the 2016 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

The Burlington, ON native was originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2011 Priority Selection by the Sarnia Sting, and appeared in 29 games with the Steelheads in 2012-13, recording three points and 42 penalty minutes.

Welsh joined Brock University (CIS) for the 2013-14 season, and has two points in eight games with the Badgers this year.
