Rangers Select Jakub Kindl 5th Overall

Kitchener, ON: Rangers Head Coach and General Manager Peter DeBoer announced this morning that the team has selected defenseman Jakub Kindl as the 5th overall selection in the 2004 Import Draft.

“We had an opportunity to trade up in the Import Draft and acquire a world class player in Jakub Kindl,” said Peter DeBoer. “Jakub is considered to be a high-end pick in next year’s NHL Draft.”

Last season as a member of Pardubice (Czech Jr.), Kindl picked up 4 goals and added 14 assists in 48 games played. He was also a +5 and notched 108 PIM’s.

“We thank Thomas Harrison, who leaves as a Memorial Cup champion and Peter Franchin for their contributions to our organization.”
