The Kitchener Rangers defeated the Barrie Colts 8-3 on Saturday night, to raise their record to 5-2-2. The Rangers host rival Guelph Storm Tuesday. Game time is 7:00pm at The Aud.

The Kitchener Rangers defeated the Barrie Colts 8-3 on Saturday night, to raise their season record to 5-2-2. Scott Dickie stopped 33 of 36 shots in being named the games first star for the 4th time in the last 5 games. Dickie now leads the OHL in Goals Against Average with a solid 1.83.

Rangers 2000 and 2001 1st round selections Andre Benoit and Mike Richards both scored twice to pace the Rangers. Steve Eminger, Mike Amodeo, and Chad McCaffrey added power play goals while Jeff Szwez netted a shorthanded marker. Richards is now tied for the team lead in scoring, with 8 points. Richards and Petr Kanko are tied for 9th in OHL Rookie scoring, with 8 points each.

Friday, the Rangers increased their average attendance thanks to 5,055 fans who attended the game vs North Bay. After 4 games, the Rangers have averaged 5,020 fans per game.

The Tuesday game against Guelph will be game #2 of the 8-game Great Canadian Challenge Cup Series! Kitchener took the opener in Guelph 4-1 in a penalty-filled affair, on September 16. “This year, both teams are doing very well with the Rangers holding a one-point edge. It seems no matter how good or bad the teams are, the Guelph-Kitchener match-up is always an exciting game.” added Ranger broadcaster Don Cameron.

The Tuesday match-up with Guelph will feature a special promotion as Great Canadian gives away a “Support New York” vacation package! This includes a trip for 2 including coach transportation and hotel for 3 nights and 4 days to New York City in support of New York!
