Rangers & Whistle Bear Golf Club join forces; Whistle Bear to host 2002 & 2003 celebrity golf events

Whistle Bear Golf Club (www.whistlebear.ca) is now recognized as the Official Golf Club of the Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club and will proudly host the 2002 and 2003 Sobeys/Kitchener Rangers Celebrity Golf Classic after a 2-year agreement was confirmed this week.

The Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club, along with title sponsor Sobeys Inc.,rwill be hosting the 2nd Annual Sobey’s/Kitchener Rangers Celebrity Golf Classic on Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at the beautiful, new Whistle Bear GolfrClub, located just south of the Highway 401 at Homer Watson Road inrKitchener, Ontario.

Last year, in just its first year, the annual charity golf event raisedr$16,000 and attracted many current and former Kitchener Ranger and NationalrHockey League alumni in addition to other great celebrities such as horserjockey legend Sandy Hawley and hockey dad great Walter Gretzky and hisrfamily.

The Rangers “inherited” the charity golf tournament in the summer of 2001rand since its inception in 1991, the event has raised over $240,000 forrvarious local charities.

Whistle Bear Golf Club, a par 72 layout, features 5 tee decks includingrBlack (7,322 yards), Gold (6,764 yards), Blue (6,292 yards), White (5,779 yards) and Red (5,118 yards). Whistle Bear Golf Club is led by C.P.G.A. Director of Golf Mike Turner, C.P.G.A. Head Professional Brad Matthews, Course Superintendent Matt Hallman and Course Architect John Robinson.
