Jeff Skinner scored the game-winning goal to give the Kitchener Rangers a 4-3 win over the Guelph Storm. This was the Rangers third victory over the Storm in two weeks.
Kitchener and Guelph traded power play goals to tie the game at 1-1 by the 0:24 mark of the second period. Matt Tipoff beat Guelph goaltender Cody St. Jacques high to the glove side in the first period to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. The Storm’s Mathew Sisca replied with his 17th goal of the season to even out the scoring at 1-1. Peter Holland put Guelph up 2-1 just over the 12-minute mark on another Storm power play. Tipoff tied the game 2-2 with his second power play marker of the night at 15:59. Tyler Carroll scored the first even strength goal of the game with 1:23 left in the second to put the Storm up 3-2.
Third period scoring was opened at the 0:24 mark much like the second, this time on a goal by Kitchener’s Jeff Skinner that made it 3-3. The remainder of the period was scoreless.
Skinner’s second goal of the game came at the midway mark of overtime play to give the Rangers the win.
The Rangers return to action Tuesday, December 29th when they host the Barrie Colts at 7:30pm.
