Kitchener, ON: The Buffalo Sabres announced last night that C Derek Roy has been returned to the Kitchener Rangers after a lengthy stay in the Sabres training camp.
Last season with the Rangers Roy collected a team high in goals with 43, assists 46 and points 89 in 62 games.
Over his 3 seasons with the Rangers he has totaled 257 points in 193 games, an average of 86 points per season and 40 goals scored. During that 3 year period he has led the club in goals, assists and points.
His return could not come at better time. The Rangers have struggled to score goals early on this season scoring only 6 times in the first 4 games.
“Obviously Derek brings an offensive dimension that our team has been lacking in the first 4 games” noted Rangers associate coach Steve Spott. “He is dangerous every time he is on the ice and his return should open up some room for players like Michael Richards and Evan McGrath.”
The Rangers return to action this Friday night, October 4th vs the Sudbury Wolves. Game time is 7:30 pm at the Aud.
