Smith & Kinkel Selected In 2002 NHL Entry Draft

Kitchener, ON: Day two of the National Hockey League Entry Draft saw two more Kitchener Rangers selected, D Marcus Smith & LW Bill Kinkel.

The 6′, 192 lb Smith was selected in the 8th Round, 249th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes. Last year with the Rangers Smith scored 6 times and added 25 assists in 65 games.

Kinkel, a big 6’4″ LW was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the 9th Round, 281st overall. Last season as a Rangers rookie Kinkel picked up 3 points and added 75 PIM’s in 53 games.
